How Many People Die From AIDS Each Year in Africa?
HIV/AIDS is one of the most important health issues in the 21st century. In Africa, AIDS is known to be a cause of the most deaths. Although a mere 15% of the global population is in Africa, the African population contains almost 70% of people who are currently living with HIV and dying from AIDS. Southern Africa presents a really high risk of HIV and AIDS infection at a pandemic level, while the North has a lower HIV presence than most cities in the USA. It has been estimated that 1 to 1.3 million people have died from HIV alone in Africa. In many cases, adults in communities are the ones who most likely have the disease. West Africa has been noted to have been the source of the disease but events where the disease might of happened are vague and aren’t clear, presenting a lot of theories about what is the main source of the disease. One of them has to do with how bushmeat is prepared, another having chimpanzees transmitting the disease from them to us. Another theory would have to do with the medical practices going on at the time.
What Affects African Children the Most?
African children have a much harder time than the most of us. They are facing a number of problems and some have a lack of support or none at all. Children and their families are having a hard time helping out their economy, working towards a better education, safer facilities, and safe food and drinking water. This list composes some of the major issues that are affecting children in Africa and are causing them to suffer more in their communities. With a lack of support for these people, they will continue having a harder time and won’t do any better without outside help from wealthier organizations.
Poverty is one of the biggest issues African children are facing right now. Research done by UNICEF has shown that approximately 20,000 kids die every day because of poverty. 28% of kids in Africa are also likely to be stunted height and growth wise, as well as underweight. Poverty is also related to starvation because of the lack of finances that parents in Africa have to feed their own family. They have a lack of funds to even support healthy children. A lot of starvation that is caused by starving leads to malnutrition, which means that African nations rely on outside food donations so that they can feed their own people. A lot of new parents have to deal with the reality that their own kids might not even stay alive for their first years of their life.
A lack of a good education is another huge problem that African children are currently facing. A lot of kids in Africa don’t even have the access a basic education. The people who do actually make it into the primary school, at least half of them will drop out and the others have to deal with the finances that the school gives them. For people who aren’t wealthy or have even enough to make money as well as AIDS orphans, and physically challenged people have a harder time to gain access to basic education. A large percentage of the child population in Africa is illiterate, meaning they have a very hard time reading and writing. Girls in some African countries are discouraged and are put down when they want to go to a school because of cultural reasons.
Child labor is something that kids do to work fulltime to assist their families who might not make enough money, so the children try to help them out through child labor. The labor is considered forced because the children volunteering to work are too young to even work and some others are forced into the labor. There are others who help around the house when they should be in school learning. A lot of children who are planned to help out in the forced child labor force in Africa are sold at a young age. They work in tough conditions, such as sweat shops. They receive not much money and are pushed to work at the farthest of their physical capabilities. The workplace where they are being forced to work to their limits aren’t safe and pose a hazard for their health.

What Organizations are Helping Kids in Africa?
What Organizations are Helping Kids in Africa?
Since there is a lot of support and help going towards Africa going through these generous organizations and their donations, I'll be focusing on three major continent wide organizations working for the better of Africa.
Organizations like Aid for Africa are helping places that are near the Saharan region. It consists of an alliance between the U.S. and their African partners in Africa. It teaches people things like how to stay healthy and prevent the spread of AIDS and passes out books to children. It has a main goal of trying to help the most important problem in a location. The members of Aid for Africa realize that they can be twice as effective than on their own when approaching these problems and can face these problems with empowerment. This organization looks at every problem in the community and does a diverse amount of things to support the community.
A Glimmer of Hope Foundation focuses on all aspects of poverty and seeks to help more than one issue that is affecting Ethiopians like water and poverty. They help construct water buildings and houses for rural Ethiopia. A Glimmer of Hope Foundation has helped over 3 million people worldwide and all of their operation costs are paid off and are used towards helping Ethiopia. Since this organization was founded in the year 2000, A Glimmer of Hope Foundation has helped construct more than 6,700 water projects, which makes sure that the drinking water is safe and isn’t unhealthy. They have also created over 500 school facilities, and 210 health facilities and has distributed over 19,000 microfinance loans to people living in Ethiopia (a microfinance loan which is for people who have a lack of banks and they pay off the loan normally like a regular one.)
Action Africa has been supporting kids since 2000 in local areas throughout Africa to become more successful and focus on health, education, and human rights. They even have a Surround a child program which allows donors to help sponsor a child so that they may not face problems like not being able to read, being poor, and being overly dependent on other things that may not seem like the best way to rely on others for support. Sponsors donate 12 dollars a month and that money helps ensure that a child gets to go to school and has a meal. The organization has helped children stay in school and avoid bad habits and continue their progress as a better person. Other organizations helped families with creating small businesses, give medical supplies, and make sure that the water that they drink is safe.
